hi just wondering if anyone had been to italy in october half term and what the weather was like? We would probabbly be looking at either the lakes or italian riviera or maybe tuscany. Any suggestions? we would prefer an apartment or self catering since we have 2 small DCs ages 5 and 3.
TIA

Hello,

I live in Italy so maybe can help a bit... Last week of Octobet can be a bit unpredictable, this past october was gorgeous but very exceptional...

So it can be sunny and anything betwern 20-25 c or wet and cold. Dont expect to be able to swim at any rate.

Lakes and tuscany are gorgeous places.

I am not sure what you mean by Italian Riviera? We have a few rivieras...

HI Claire thanks for the reply....would you think first week of april might be a better bet? Was thinking of the italian riviera near Genoa?

April should be better, but still a bit unpredictable, depends what you want to do: for sightseeing probably ideal weather, for beach holiday still too cold (most each resorts will be closed)

I do not know the Riviera Ligure much, except for the Cinqueterre which is a fantastic place (a series of small villages perched on a mountain with breathtaking views on the sea). Worth a visit for one day or two. Genova has a beautiful Aquarium that kids love.

Sorry cant help with accomodation

We have stayed here close to the Cinque Terre mentioned above - easy to get about by train - and yes it is stunning round there (also Portofino Wink. Ice cream parlour downstairs and the owner was lovely. He now has apartments across the square. There were some lovely restaurants. It will be quiet out of season though. We went in late September. We spent days on the beach sunbathing but the locals had their coats on!
