Having gone to Holiday Villages (C'an Picafort/Balaia - twice) for the past three years I can say that the chavs are very easy to avoid.
Unless you like spending the entire day parked in the bar area then you'll be fine.
We're looking at Rhodes this year, I hate the "Brit abroad" stereotype so would hate to be stuck with them. Get out the hotel, get out and about and leave them to their free beers. (They also tend to miss out on a lot of the Kids Club activities as they can't move from their spot to take their children to the archery or raft building - which is a good thing!)
