Help! Holiday villa on Northern Spanish coast or France Atlantic coast

Must have own private pool (not budging on that one) and sleep 2 adults and 2 children. Must not be eye watering expensive, in fact, the cheaper the better. Must not feel like costa-del-sol-land.

Go!

Any suggestions for towns / areas that are nice but not hiddeously expensive would be very, very, very welcome.

Please? Grin

We have stayed in rural France near royan.
Try the web site French connections. We stayed in gemozac and could drive to the beach. A local village also had a shallow safe river with a crepe bar and many local swam. Very French!
The vendee is lovely but you need to go in July or August because of the weather. You may be lucky in June though!
Good luck!

Thanks very much for the tip wentworth. I'll check out the Royan area. We've spent a lot of time in Northern France, but haven't gone much down the Atlantic coast and quite fancy it.

May and June are lovely in the Vendée (though June can be VERY hot). TBH August is the month that can be a bit iffy, September is nearly always better.

I think it is nicer in the south Vendée round Fontenay le comte than it is round Royan (which I find very crowded in summer and not very pretty). Try around Fontenay le Comte or Luçon.

Thanks for the advice, frenchfancy. Are you based in France?

Yes I am. I admit to being slightly biased :)
