Grin Can't believe I've done it... Grin
Have never booked a holiday in January before in my life, and we can't really afford it, but after the last few years of rainy camping trips in France, thought we deserved it Grin
So, sailing in Adakoy, YAY!
Grin
btw please tell me how great Neilson holidays are.. ta

I think we are about to do the same :).

Ingles2 · 07/01/2012 11:54

Go for it Peggy Then we can be excited together Smile
Trip advisor reviews for Adakoy are excellent and that swung it here.

We went with Neilson last year after I had a tantrum we decided, that we would take a break from the dusty rainy French campsites! Was nervous as dh is a staunch surfer and loved France but he had a ball, in fact we all did. Took a couple of days to adjust to the fact that dd didn't want to be with us she wanted to be with her new friends (at dinner too)! And after that loved it. We're trying to decide which resort for this year - hopefully 2 weeks around mAy half term. Eek. Son excited for you.

*so!! If you have any questions ask away and I'll do my best to answer.

Ingles2 · 13/01/2012 18:58

ooo fantastic Charlie Grin
which resort did you go to? was the food good and were any drinks included? and if not were they expensive?
I'm still gleeful btw... I like this booking in advance

We stayed at Lemnos. It was fab. Drinks weren't included and they weren't particularly cheap but if you get into the local village (if practical) with a day rucksack you can fill up on water and drinks. We'd Better get saving for a few extras drinks at the bar! There was a happy hour too. Can't remember if everything included in that but if you are a wine drinker maybe you could get the wine then? In Lemmos they would keep your bottle of wine with your room number on in the fridge for the next day if you didn't finish it. I hope they allow that at the next place we choose.

When are you booked for? We are looking at May half term and the week before/after. Loved the one week so much last year none of us wanted to leave so booking for 2 this year!

Ingles2 · 14/01/2012 09:19

Thanks charlie that's useful to know.... We're going in July, 1st week of summer holidays. No choice really as i have older kids with mismatched holidays.

Hi - we've also been considering Neilson but have got Lakes and Mountains brochure rather than Sailing one as we're not bothered about watersports that much... Has anyone been on a Lakes and Mountains Neilson (and is it any different from just booking the hotel direct yourself?).

Also - you all seem to love the Neilson sailing hols in Turkey. Would there be any point considering one of these if you did not want to do the sailing lessons? What do the kids do all day?

Thank you....

Ingles2 · 14/01/2012 20:34

well the kids could sail triathlonmum or waterski, windsurf, play tennis, go mountain biking..
I'm not planning on sailing much , my whole teenage life was sailing and it wasn't much fun then Grin
Dh and my boys will sail all the time and I'm planning on playing tennis, and reading some decent novels by the pool

we'are going on our 3rd neilson in a row this year, had a fab time the last two years you will love it

triathlon mum - I don't sail. There is loads for the kids to do - lots of swimming and watersports they are busy all day

triathlonmum · 15/01/2012 08:29

Thanks for the replies. Is it Neilson beach I want to be looking at then? I was just worried it was a waste of money if we don't want to sail!! Which of the Greek resorts are nice? I have dc age 8 and 6 so also worry they would be a bit too young to get the most out of it yet.....

QueenOfAllBiscuitsandMuffins · 15/01/2012 09:12

Triathlonmum have you looked at Club La Santa? www.clublasanta.co.uk/
Also I'm pretty sure it's Neilson who do Triathlon weeks at some of their clubs (or it could be Mark Warner but think it's Neilson).

However 6 & 8 yr old is PERFECT age for Neilson, you will probably not see them most of the week as they will be too busy having fun without you.

triathlonmum · 15/01/2012 13:04

Thanks! I've been to Club La Santa twice pre kids and as a (very) keen runner it's my idea of a perfect holiday - not sure my DH would tolerate me joining in all the activities tho. I guess they have things organised to keep the kids busy though so I will take a closer look.

Will also look more closely at Neilson again, have a friend who recommended it and am encouraged by the hugely positive reviews here.

We usually end up camping in France so this would qualify as a 'proper' holiday for me!

givemeaclue · 17/01/2012 12:07

Kids will love it - the kids activities are great - they make loads of friends and spend lots of time on the water and in the pool. If you don't want to sail or do watersports you can relax, swim, play tennis, go mountain biking, do fitness activities (they do runs), go sightseeing, lie in bed etc
My only tip is that we booked in october and they had no availability at some resorts the weeks we wanted - we're happy with what we have got but it did seem to be getting booked quickly - whilst booking in Jan may be early for you - some people book as soon as they get back for the following year (never got that organised myself!)
