Madeira or Tenerife?

Looking to go away in February and can't make up my mind between the two.

Been to Tenerife before, Madeira would be new.

Anyone care to persuade me one way or the other

If you want a Beach don't go to Madeira. If you enjoy walking it might be a good place (but it will be a bit more limited at that time of year, and there may well be snow on the peaks).

Aim will be walking and general sightseeing and relaxation. If we go to tenerife we'd not be staying on the coast so beaches not hugely important although we like to watch the sea

Madeira, Madeira, Madeira.

I loved Madeira. Fabulous scenery, great sightseeing, wonderful food and very friendly people. The weather won't be as warm as Tenerife, but Tenerife doesn't really appeal to me.

I agree with Bunbaker.

Thanks for that, I'd already come to the same conclusion myself so good to see it backed up. Just waiting on holiday approval so I can book flights and accommodation

Anything in particular we must see/do whilst we're there?

Depends what kind of things you like doing. I liked the Monte Palace Tropical Gardens and Sacred Art museum in Funchal. The cable car is fun - if expensive - and there are lots of nice restaurants and so on. It's a very chilled place.
