I've not been before, but my friend has and loved it - so much so, that they have booked to go again this year.

We saw her videos and it does look really lovely, especially if you are happy being mainly based on site.

Yep, I've been although it was about 5 years ago when DS1 was 6 and DS2 was 3. It is an amazing resort and the food is fantastic. Of all the places we have been to (and we have been/are lucky enough to travel extensively - always with the children) it is one of only two hotels we have stayed in that we would return to (the other is the Jumeirah Beach Hotel/Madinat Jumeirah complex in Dubai - and we have already been there twice). In fact I just before Christmas I priced up going to Lykia again in May half term this year. How old are your ds's motheroftwoboys? If they are confident in water and able to swim they will love the onsite waterpark. Be careful NOT to book a garden room in the Village section as they are very basic. We had a large Family Room (sleeping 5) which had two bedrooms sharing one bathroom). Transfer from Dalaman airport is tedious though - it takes just about 2 hours. Hope this helps. If you have any specific questions ask away.
Check this link on Tripadvisor for reviews of the 'Village' part of the resort.

Hi Copycat. The DSs are/will be 15 and 14 when we go on holiday in August. They are both excellent swimmers and we have just done two Mark Warner's where they did loads of water skiing/wake boarding etc. They would love to go to MW again this summer but it is really expensive and this Lykia World would cost about £1k cheaper for a week and it looks great! MWs buffets are brilliant but a bit boring after a while and this place looks as if it has loads of restaurant options. We need somewhere they are guaranteed to meet other teenagers as that is what keeps them happy. DH says we should wait to book for Turkey as the prices will probably go down as people will be nervous of bird flu. He could be right! Brochure should be arriving today. Can't wait to have a look. Other option is a cruise, always a good bet but it would have to be a fly cruise as I can only squeeze one week. Have always fancied Jumeirah Beach Hotel (that's the one that looks like a sail isn't it?) but assumed it was very fiercely expensive. Remember we have to cost for 4 adults now as teenagers = adults.

Hi Motheroftwoboys

Another place that may be worth looking at is the Oceania club Halkidiki. We went last summer and they had a great teenagers club. All the teenagers seemed to be having a great time. There was a full teenage programme in operation.Food was good. Our ds not a teenager had a fantastic holiday. The hotel is ran by sani.

hmmm, teenagers are probably difficult to please. The Lykia waterpark may well be a bit tame for them although there are three new slides I believe, which are more 'challenging'. Otherwise there is a circus club which might appeal to them as well as a good range of watersports. A very popular (payable) activity was hang gliding. You are driven by jeep up a nearby mountain from where you take off in tandem with an instructor and land on the Lykia beach. The descent takes quite some time. A video camera is attached somehow so you can have a record of your jump.
There are two large buffet restaurants as well as several speciality restaurants (for which there is a small charge I believe).
All in all, I think there should be enough to keep the boys amused for a week. Olu Deniz town is not too far by taxi for a little shopping and you can take a boat trip along the coast.
Have I (or the brochure) sold it to you? When are you thinking of going?

motheroftwoboys · 17/01/2006 14:28

Thanks Copycat - and I will have a look at that one Marbeth. We have to go in the last week of the summer hols betwixt work and back to school. Unfortunately we just hit the more expensive week unless we take DS2 out of school for the first day of term (he starts a day before DS1) and I just feel so guilty. We did that as we were away for New Year and he missed the first two days (DS1 was fine). We did MW Paleros last summera and MW Egypt at New year, both fantastic, both v.v. expensive. Have also got Neilson brochure on recommendation for MN but it is even more expensive as MW as it doesn't include all meals - but it looks brilliant. Fly cruise is the other option. That keeps us all entertained, however, lots of water but not really for water skiing on!!! I think it is the teen company they need more than anything, and access to lots of food!
