Well I'm getting bored of rain and wind and dreaming of sunshine and blue skies so am thinking of planning our family holiday!! We have been to two club med holidays and loved them, my kids are very sporty and both them and me and my husband like the kids clubs!!! The food was great and not too expensive. We have been to one in Turkey and one in Tunisia so happy to go back to one of those or try somewhere new/similar? Any reccomendations so I can start browsing and convince my husband!!! : )

I'm looking at Mark Warner in Sardinia but it is coming up very expensive at the moment. They have Mark Warner holidays in Turkey and Greece, Sardinia, Corsica which look lovely.

Am thinking of Club Med Palmiye as some friends have booked to go at the same time we are thinking of going... we really liked Beldi last year and have a great travel agent who always seems to do us a good deal! Everyone I've spoken to who has been to Mark warner and Club med has always rated Club Med first as the food is better along with other things too!

Palmiye very nice and got loads going on - lots for all ages (sneaking into the "night club" was a particular pastime for dss and dn when we went and they were about 16)

I like club med as food usually good and the entertainment there but not in your face . Was put off last year when they cancelled our holiday (they did offer us an alternative but it wasnt of comparable quality/type about 4 weeks before we were due to go). That said the actual holidays we went on were ok.

Thankyou Gigondas, did you book with Club Med direct or with an agent? We usually book with an agent but it always helps to barter one against another!! Also is it best to stay in the hotel or in the bungalows? x

We booked direct (the bartering idea is a good one)- stayed in hotel - quite nice rooms. Not sure what the bungalows were like but whole site was very nicely landscaped and quite spacious and has a lovely beach.

The hotel is much nicer than the bungalows and is more centrally located.

We used to do lots of Mark Warner holidays were younger and some of the people we met had also tried Sunsail beach club holidays. You could check them out.

Is it true though that Club Med are all very French. My French is "non" existent and my kids none at all. It all looks great though in terms of quality and price but don't want to book and get there and find we may as well have gone to France - thinking of Portugal, Greece or turkey

hollyround · 07/01/2012 10:25

nocluemum we have been to two club meds and while there are a lot of French it has never been a problem, most of the staff speak good English. We have met lovely English families there, two of which we are still in contact with and another one my son corresponds with their daughter on Moshi Monsters! Occasionally when they are addressing everyone they need reminding to translate a little more!!
I have spoken to my travel agent and it is quite a bit more expensive than Beldi but our friends will be at Palymie so am torn as to what to do? Also the hotel is more expensive than the bungalows so if we were to stay in the hotel we could only manage 11 nights for the same price as 14 in a bungalow! So my dilema... Beldi or Palmyie in Turkey or Hammamet in Tunisia as it has the circus skills the same as Palmyie that my son loves and is a similar price to Beldi...
Any advice ladies??!! xx
