Can anyone recommend a good hotel to go to with kids for Christmas in UK.

Sounds like a good idea . I'd go for one of the ones listed under the Mumsnet "find the best" weekend breaks section (see link form home page).

Try Manor House Hotel near Okehampton Devon. Provisionally booked for next year while we were there!

Where abouts in UK do you want to go?

If you can remortgage the house, Gleneagles up in Scotland is AMAZING. Did Easter there last year and although the cost was ridiculous, it pushed every button! They have fantastic transfer options from Edinbugh Airport if you're going from down South and the chances of getting a white Christmas should be pretty high. (not much chance of getting snowed in either, the roads are really good up there!) Ickworth House in Suffolk is also really lovely, much smaller hotel where they really make you feel welcome and the kids found loads of stuff to do.
