So I've got the choice of a couple of US cities.

I am looking to go over to the states in May time to visit friends. I will be flying into Washington spending a couple of days there before going up to visit friends in Philladelphia. I will be on my own and thought I might use the extra days about 5 in total seeing another city or two. Having looked on megabus.com I can get to ; BALTIMORE, BOSTON, ATLANTIC CITY in a couple of hours

Any reccomendations? Or would you reccomend anyother cities in the Washington/Philadelphia area

fair enough Smile

May is a fabulous time to go, & if you do Boston you could also go out to Cape Cod

Am planning on doing exactly the same thing, except into Philly to see friends then up to Boston April/ May time.

If you are in Philly, you can get your fix of American history. Boston is a long way to travel for what is basically just another north American city.

Does it have to be a city you visit? The Atlantic coastline, Chesepeake/Delaware coastline is lovely, as are the Appalachians.

I liked Philly when I was there before but want to see a bit more of the states.

I know Boston is a bit of a treck but as won't have a car I am looking to see where I can get to by greyhound or mega bus.

Boston

Not Atlantic City. Well, not for 5 days. Apart from casinos and boardwalk (which only = a night's entertainment) it's not that pretty at all

Clayhead · 28/12/2011 21:25

Boston

I too wasn't fussed by NYC but LOVED Boston.

Cinderfella · 28/12/2011 23:12

So what's to do in Boston - could I see whats worth seeing in 2 days or should I give myself 5?

well I've never been, sadly, but just found \link{http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2008-02-07-10-tourist-tips_N.htm\this} which has some helpful suggestions Smile

Hated Boston, everyone was so miserable and all the bars shut so early, food n service worse than UK and NOT kid friendly, although Cape Cod is lovely.
From Washington I went to W Virginia, Wallops space station, Assateague and Chincoteague to see the ponies it was fab :)

Another vote for Boston. It is very foot friendly as well. There is a freedom trail you can follow.
