Does anyone know this area? - i know they have a Food Festival in September, but we fancied a foodie break before then.

I'd love to hear of any good places to stay and even better places to eat.

Sorry to post this when we should all be on New Year Diets.

Feathers is very nice hotel. There are quite a few Michelin starred restaurants round there too.

Mr Underhills and Hibiscus are both supposed to be great. The first Michelin-starred restaurant there, the Merchant House, has closed down as the chef moved.
We've stayed in a place outside Ludlow called Sutton Court Farm which has holiday cottages. It was great at the time but was a few years ago so my info is not up to date.

have just seen a programme on sky showing the hibiscus in ludlow; looks v.nice!!!

Ludlow is packed with brilliant restaurants.

Merchant House closed because Shaun Hill had made his money and is now writing and lecturing about food.

Dinham Hall has a 5 rating in the Good Food Guide and looks great and has accommodation.

Hibiscus has an 8 rating and sounds FAB!

Mr Underhills has a 7 rating and rooms.

CAT me if you want any more info as I LOVE the good food guide and we travel round the country eating our way thru good restaurants!

A bit further afield but Stretton Hall Hotel is excellent for families and not too expensive. They also welcome dogs! Food is pretty good too
It's in All Stretton about half way between Ludlow and Shrewsbury, near Church Stretton.
Check out their website StrettonHall
