First holiday with 10 month old - February 2012

I'm starting a new job in February and would like to go away beforehand for a week, with my husband and 10 month old baby.

Looking for ideas of good resorts that will be warm (not necessarily hot), have things to do with a crawler/toddler and have good accommodation. Thinking Canaries, Egypt or Madeira maybe. Anyone have any suggestions please? Thanks

I had my most relaxing holiday ever with DP and 9-month DS in Gran Canaria a few years ago. We stayed at a Rui Hotel - the one that's near the lighthouse (I think there's another that's just a few minutes further away but not so nice).

We had a really lazy holiday though. Every day went something like this; walk along the promenade in the morning (DS having a little nap in the pram), back to hotel to play in the playground/room/lobby, lunch in a cafe near the hotel (there's a parade of shops nearby). Back to hotel for an afternoon snooze while DS slept in travel cot, play in the pool in late afternoon, dinner at 6, DS in bed by 7.30 (just like in UK), me and DH drinking on the balcony and going to bed by 10.

We hired a car for one day and went to an animal sanctuary and the capital city, just to have a look around. Another day we spent at the beach.

I had never considered a resport type holiday in the Canaries pre-DC, but it was just great for a family break.

Am also planning a holiday with DH and DS in February, who will then be 10 months old, was thinking lanzarote and trying to get an apartment or villa as he is such abad sleeper can't bear the thought of being stuck in a confined space (ie. hotel room) all evening trying not to make a noise!!!

Aimandfire you actually made it sound like it could be a relaxing experience!! The only thing thats now worrying me is how he will cope with the heat, did your DS adjust ok to this?? Do you normally use grobags, am wondering whether its worth buying a low tog one especially?
