Rio and Iguassa Falls next April, any tips?

I am travelling next April to Rio de Janeiro for 6 nights then flying to Argentinia and visiting Iguassa Falls for 4 nights with DH and Sons aged 11 and 13. Has anyone done a similar trip and got any tips or suggestions for places to visit or restaurants etc, particuarly family friendly ideas. Thankyou.

We went to Iguaza falls last year, before children. We stayed within the national park at the Sheraton. From there you can easily walk to the falls and the many different views, saw monkeys, lots and lots of butterflies and many different animals. We also went on a trip to the Brazilian side of the falls, well worth doing. The walk around the falls is easy if you are reasonably fit. There are also jet boat trips to 'under' the falls.

Apart from that, it's possible to chill out at your hotel but not a great deal else to do. Have a great trip, the falls are amazing to see.

Can I hide in your case? It's the one place I really want to go to, since Victoria Falls is now a bit dodgy... :) seriously, have a great time.

Fantastic places! The Falls can be done from 2 countries and both are separate experiences. I vaguely recall that the Argentinian side was more walking and more like a nature park (I really enjoyed it) and the Brazil side was more views-orientated (great for photos!) There is also Parque de Aves on the Brazil side where you can enjoy seeing birds including macaw, toucans and I landed up holding a snake (strange as it's one of my phobias). Devil's Throat on the argentinian side at the falls is lovely to see and you can watch the water from the walkway. The water is rushing so much it actually wets you a bit and when you see if from a distance you can hear the rumbling and see the spray like smoke rising off it. I did do the trip under the falls on the Brazil side, they dunk you in some of the water of the falls. Rio is just so beautiful. Go to Christ the Redeemer - there is a fantastic view over the whole of Rio.
