Not stayed in those apartments, but have been to Costa Teguise.

I liked Lanzarote a lot. There is lots to see and it is worth hiring a car or going on a couple of tours. BUT, I didn't like Costa Teguise. It is totally devoid of any character, full of English bars selling English beer and showing English football. We ate out a lot and while we didn't have a bad meal, none of the places we ate out in were that good either. I cook better meals at home.

The first time we went to Lanzarote we stayed in Puerto del Carmen and liked it a lot. But that was over 20 years ago and it is busier and brasher than it was.

bunbaker - what are the best places to visit please? we are going back to playa blanca again (which we really liked) but are looking to hire a car this time to see some of the island

Timanfaya national park - you have to park the car and take a coach tour because it is a protected area. It is awesome and unmissable IMO.
Los Jameos del Agua
Cueva De Los Verdes
Mirador del Rio
Guinate Tropical Park - ideal for children
El Golfo
Anything to do with Cesar Manrique

thanks bun. timanfaya was the only place we went last time - agree its very interesting.

i'll look the other places up. what about towns or villages - are there any worth seeing?

Bunbaker · 16/12/2011 08:54

I can't really remember. Last time we went we had DD with us and didn't travel about as much. The first time we went was in 1988. The Cesar Manrique sights are wonderful. Lanzarote has him to thank for not being spoilt by high rise developments.

There is a volcano museum at Los Jameos that is worth visiting as well.
