Doesn't run out until sept but , i've noticed on recent holiday documents , that your passport has to be valid 6 months after the holiday. this basically means that if i book a holiday for say april/may my passport could prevent me from travelling- i presume? - so, before commiting to a holiday, i want to know that my passport is all up to date and sorted.

yes - -I think you can get up to 9 months added on to the new passport - ie can renew 9 mths early

see here

To encourage customers to apply early we now offer a facility that enables applicants with unexpired validity in their old passports to receive a credit, up to the nearest whole month (minimum of one month, maximum of nine months) in their new passport.
