India or Africa with older dc?

DH has earned a lot of air miles which we need to use up in 2012. So we are thinking of taking the dc (who will be 13 and 10 by then) to either Africa (safari?) or India, dh and I have both been to both places together and loved.

Anybody got any useful experience to help us decide? Need to be somewhere Virgin flies to.

Thanks.

How patient are they? Safaris, as I'm sure you remember, need a lot of patience.

re India-are they the type who will be freaked/turn their noses up at what they see/ India isn't easy, unless you just go to a luxury resort, in which case, why go all that way?

My vote goes to Namibia. How about a camping trip with Wild Dog safaris?

S Africa is great for kids - lots of activity options, good and varied food, cheap and wonderful self-catering accomodation. And you can do self-drive safaris. Namibia also damned wonderful. Kenya's more difficult, but the beaches are out of this world.

I love India, but... yeah, it's tougher.

We took ours aged 5 and 7 to south Africa - great trip. I agree Namibia is a good bet too.

Think kids of that age would love the safari! I hear there's a place in SA (near Johannesburg) where you can stroke baby lions.....
