Hi all,
Off to India in Jan. If you have been what are your must see places except the Taj Majal and any tips? We are planning on staying in hotels, not bs packing. Thanks

Amritsar, to see the Golden Temple.
Stay at Mrs Bhandari's Guest House.
Go on a daytime trip to the Temple, have lunch in the communal dining room or langar, return at night for the Ceremony of the Book, when the Scripture is put away for the night. Don't worry that you're not Sikh, nor are we but we were made so welcome.
Take a taxi from Amritsar to Wagah to see the border closing ceremony. Mental but the only place to see something like that.
If you're going to the Taj, check out the full moon viewings.
Jaipur is fantastic, too. We rode an elephant through the main shopping area.
Soooooo jealous :)

Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur all worth seeing. Red Fort, Fatepur Sikhri.

The laundry in Mumbai, Jain temples at Ranakpur.

Stick to Indian food, including breakfast. We were fine until the last day, when we had poached eggs in a 5-star hotel and were extremely unwell on the way home.
