...how long it has to be valid for after you return?

We are booked for Feb and ds's passport expires mid JUly, so nearly 5 months after we return. So fine if it's 3 months, not if it's 6.

I am going slowly ma-a-a-ad trying to find out online and the embassy phone system keeps cutting me off...

normally 6 mths although most countries are fine at 3 months.

im a travel agent and booked a man last night who told me afterwards that his pport runs out end feb ( he flies on monday)
told him to contact airport as it is the staff at this end (uk) who create the problems. he didnt ring back to cancel so i assume manchester airport said that they would use their discretion.

thank you! that's really what I was worried about, that we might have trouble at check-in. think I will renew it as we have time and they add the unexpired time on now don't they?

yep, you can add the unexpired onto your new passports.

most countries within the EU now have no problem with passports due to expire, its check in staff at airports that are over rigid with it.
