S/C in Italy on a budget ideas?

Following on from the Gites de France thread, anyone know of anything similar in Italy? I have successfully used Owners Direct to book villas in France, and they do operate in Italy but fewer properties. Hoping to spend £500-700 for a week in August, have to be near coast/lakes somewhere in Rome region, and think the budget will rule out all the packaged companies, plus we have already got flights. Don't know the area at all so if anyone has been to Sperlonga/Fondi/ or the lakes north of Rome very interested to hear opinions. Thanks!

Haven't actually used them yet but the equivalent seems to be www.agriturismo.com.

Thanks Lapsed this is great. Lots of choice in our price range and emailed a couple of likely looking ones and they came back to me straightaway. Thanks!

btw, that site can tell u if they are available or not, which most sites don't. It's very handy.
