we went when Ds was 5.Had a great holiday.we stayed in an all inclusive resort.Went on a day trip to the dunes river falls and dolphin park.We did a touch programme with dolphins instead of swim.Really great day out. Also visited a crocodile park as ds was mad about crocodiles.Other that that very much hotel based holiday which we really enjoyed.

desperatehousewife · 04/01/2006 18:09

can you remember the name of the resort? which part of the island were you on?

check out the weather we went in May and it was a great holiday and warm but it rained at some point every day.

We went BC and I totally loved it.

Fantastic amazing country and the locals are fab.

We stayed in Ocho Rios in an all inclusive place called the Renaissance Grande. If you stay somewhere like that you'll be most certainly ok. They have everything imaginable that you need. There were kids everywhere when we went. Alot of americans and there was plenty of things for them to do.

desperatehousewife · 04/01/2006 19:09

where did you stay daisy?

We stayed at wyndham rose hall.It had a great water park.Which keep us all amused.Look on trip advisor for jamacia hotel reviews.

daisy1999 · 04/01/2006 21:05

sorry dh went to do baths. We stayed in Runaway Bay at Eden Hall but it was bc (before children) and children were not allowed there.
Dunns river falls was fantastic, we climbed up to the top.

mummymojo · 04/01/2006 23:33

Just to let you know - Renaissance Grande is now called Sunset Jamaican Grande and it has been done up loads - they now have a water park - it's a great hotel for kids and you should find rally good deals on this hotel. Also look at Boscobel Beach that's really tailored for kids. Both hotels are in Ocho Rios.

I run my own travel agents but I do speak from personal opinion on these - been to Jamaica 3 times and absolutely love it. It is rainy season May to November but you find it is just warm showers that soon pass - kids find them most entertaining!

Where exactly do you get ridicuously cheap deals? I am desperate for something in April but shocked by the prices for a family of 4.

desperatehousewife · 05/01/2006 08:46

i found a cheap deal on www.directline-holidays.co.uk (nothing to do with the insurance company!) But I'm looking to go in Feb which may be cheaper, and the cheap deal is resort allocation on arrival....which may be a very risky strategy with kids. But have a look at the web site and see how much april is...?

I will have a look but allocation on arrival puts me off. Silly really as you can't tell that much from the brochure really.

desperatehousewife · 05/01/2006 22:58

i agree - but might be worth talking to the tour operator and find out what the standard of accomodation is - because might be absolutely fine and whatever you get allocated may suit...?

Skribble · 06/01/2006 01:17

Had a look and even un-named accom is too pricey, they say free kids but you have to pay undeoccupancy, I refuse to pay £1000 for a week in Majorca!!!!

desperatehousewife · 06/01/2006 09:26

i agree wholeheartedly! But we were looking at all inclusive deals in the carribbean and they were £260 per person for 14 days!

desperatehousewife · 07/01/2006 11:04
