short to medium haul- we don't like touristy places and other people! shudder at the thought of gran canaria or tunisia- yes, I'm a fussy old bat.
But Dh has had a year of ill health and we just want somewhere civilised to chill maybe in jan or feb.

any ideas?

This place looks lovely and Dahab is meant to be very relaxed and not touristy and wil be warm. I'm thinking of New Year www.dahabparadise.com/
Also Marrakech is lovely in Jan or Feb.
Have also found some eco friendly places in Lanzarote off the beaten track.
Tunisia ...try Sidi Bou Said which is a village and not big all inclusive hotels..
Check out Alaisdair Sawdays website.

We went to Cape Town last Feb half term , gorgeous weather, actually amazing everything. Although long haul there is no jet lag as only an hour or two time difference.

Just bumping up anyone got any more ideas?

We are holidaying child free, in our 50s- though not typical 50s as we are young at heart! But want somewehre boring civilised, warm enough not to need a coat and nice scenery, and some culture would be good too.

anyone done Madeira?

Oman. Lovely country, people and scenary. You can nip over to Dubai for a spot of glam and glitz if it gets too dull in the Sunny Sultanate.

Madeira is a bit boring imo - although pretty. low 20's in winter time but varies. What about Jordan? Easy Jet fly to Amman, v warm in the Dead Sea/Aqaba regions and amazing culture (Petra, Wadi Rum etc).
