We tend to hang out in Lakitira, but had heard good things about Lemnos.

Have you MWed before?

donnie · 03/01/2006 21:49

no never...always thought it was too pricey but it works out as not that much dearer than other places when you do all the calculations. We are looking fwd to it I must say!

We've been to Lakitira in May and it is nice because it is still fairly quiet with mainly preschoolers. You really notice the influx of bigger children at halfterm, and surprisingly they are much noisier than the preschoolers. It is not too hot, but the children still enjoy the beach and pools. Your older dd will find a gand g of girls in Mini club and you will hear her around resort singing various marching songs (gives you warning to hide if necessary).

thanks for the tip! this year is the last year we'll be able to go on holiday out of term times as dd1 starts school next sept so we thought we'd better take advantage of the situation.

I've just been to Abu Soma and I loved it..loved it...loved it

Why am I here?

Hi, might be late to add a msg...how is the beach in Lakitira? is it nice and sandy or grey sandy beach?

ladymuck · 03/02/2006 08:48

As far as the med goes I would say that the beach itself is nice and sandy - but as it meets the sea becomes fairly stoney (though there are various sand bag piers so that you can walk out to dinghies comfortably).

Donnie I haven't stayed at MW in Lemnos but have stayed just down the beach, and it is lovely. The MW hotel is up on a hill so you get a little breeze and a good view. The town (they run minubus services) is also very sweet, with a beautiful Venetian castle and a lovely little harbour. There are some fab archaeological sites on lemnos too, so if you get a chance, hire a car for a day and get out and see them! I have stayed at other MW and they are all pretty good I think. You'll have a great time.
