Tronki suitcases?

Are these fancy looking ride on suitcases Tronki worth the money? I am thinking of getting my DS who is nearly 6.We are travelling to Dubai and he has been asking for his own suitcase. Any of you ladies tried them and what would you say?

We have owned Trunki for nearly 4 years now (since DD was 4) Trunki has travelled to many places. DD can still fit a weeks worth of clothes in them and she needs a least 1 full set per day. Trunki coped last year with a tortuous return from Oman via Istanbul, Barcelona and Paris taking 5 days and many forms of transport, he is still in excellent nick and is looking forward to a long weekend in Paris shortly.

so i gather it is worth the money Lizcat :) and it is cabin friendly isn't it? no hassle with that I hope!

We have never taken it in the cabin, it is her suitcase and goes in the hold. But worth every penny.

Definately agree trunki is worth the money, we usually pack a full spare set of clothes each including shoes in my ds's ( for 3 people) with plenty of space left. Trunki has survived many long haul flights and has been dragged around countless airports with no damage!

Got one for my niece who lives in canada and it was great for her. Fits nicely in the overhead space and kept her happy in the airport too (although she did want to pull her dad on it at one point

We have had great use from ours, although mainly when DD was a bit younger than 6 and could ride on it. We have checked ours in the hold too but I know the company who makes Trunkis doesnt recommend that because they can't guarantee the ear/ handle things.

we have one - it have travelled the world with us.....great to tow tired kids through airport.....DS is 6 1/2 and we have had it about 3 years I think, and we have travelled a lot (3-4 international trips a year) - mostly used it as carry on though. My only caveat with it is that it is not for young children to be towed on - DD is 2 and would love to ride on it - but that would just end in tears

They are great! I love is, so does DS.

I got DS a Gruffalo one on sale. We packed loads of toys in it for our holiday, I was really surprised how much it can hold! It's tough, and compact enough to slot into a small space in a car. We haven't flown with it, but I would imagine it can go on as cabin baggage because it's not huge (best check with the airline though). It is robust enough to go in the hold though if you don't need it with you.
They are quite expensive, but I see them on offer quite often so have a shop around. I think they're worth it though - well made/designed, and fun!

hayleysd · 09/11/2011 16:31

It's designed as cabin luggage the instructions say not to check it in to the hold, ours is great.

Lizcat · 09/11/2011 16:33

As I said earlier ours has only ever been in the hold and so far there is no damage anywhere.

gypsymummy · 09/11/2011 16:40

Well ladies! sounds like it is very much worth it and we will be travelling a lot and so we will be making good use of it too..i want it specifically to take onto the plane and not to check it in..the whole idea is to keep the child occupied and entertained so to speak while trecking and waiting at the airport. i just checked the dimensions and so it seems they are cabin friendly..yippeee :)

Make sure you get the inner, fabric case for it if you are planning to use for toys, otherwise everything just falls out when you open it!
