Somewhere for a week on the way back from the Dordogne? Any recommendations?

I have booked a gite on a complex near Les Eyzies for next July. It is about a 9 hour drive from Brussels I think but we will probably do it in one day on the way out. I want to book a further week somewhere else on the way back - so somewhere north of the Dordogne, roughly half way home maybe, but I am quite flexible.

Charente, Brittany, Loire? Happy with a gite/mobile home but would prefer s/c. I am normally a whizz at this, but I don't know where I want to go Grin
We spent a week near Cognac last year, but otherwise I don't know the western side of France at all. Pool/beach definitely required.

Any suggestions?

Vendée perhaps? would get you a little further north than Cognac but with no detriment to the weather.

Well they look lovely but are all a bit large (and expensive) for the 3 of us. Is the Vendee the bit before you hit the Loire?

Normandy? Perhaps a bit off route if you are heading for Brussels but loads to see.

This is us in South Brittany. Not sure if that's on your route or not? Obviously biased but it's a great area!

Yes the Vendée is the bit before you hit the loire (if you are travelling north). Basically between La Rochelle and Nantes. It is a great area with lots to do.

jen - you seem to be booked for our dates, but will bookmark for the future! Thank you! I found the Logis du Pressoir looking in the MN reviews. That is the kind of thing I am after....

Thanks Portofino, I wasn't sure when in July you needed. I hope you find somewhere suitable and have a great holiday!
