South of England for next year's holiday? Any recommendations?

We are discussing what we will do for next summer's holiday. DH has been to rugby matches in England several times and I have been to Cardiff once but apart from that neither of us has ever really spent any time in the UK (we are Irish)

We have 2 dc's who will be 6 and 3 next summer and we would like to holiday out of Ireland but are limited to school holidays and would prefer somewhere not too hot.

Considering Jersey but also thinking about the south of England but we are really clueless Blush considering our proximity.

Any recommendations for us?

Thanks

what sort of things do you like doing? Personally i would consider dorset as you have nice beaches, countryside, some historic towns for shopping, leisure parks etc.

pembrokeshire in wales is lovely and also the gower near swansea. but the weather is slightly more unpredictable than dorset.

of course devon and cornwall are the other traditional tourist areas in the south. both of which are beautiful...though slightly more expensive and busy than pembrokeshire

Thanks dreaming, Dorset is one of the places I would like to visit.

When we are on holiday here we usually walk a bit, spend some time at the beach (not sunbathing obviously as it is Ireland!), visit historical sites - nothing very strenuous.

We would probably go self-catering as hotels just don't work now that the dcs need more space.

I like the idea of Wales too because we could get the ferry.

if you fancy pembrokeshire we used this agency (very good) and stayed at this cottage which was lovely.

I like South Hams in Devon... Salcombe, Hope Cove, Dartmouth. Beautiful area.
