Anyone from Bristol here please

Travelling from London to Bristol next Sunday.

Is Bristol Temple Meads far from Ashton Court Estate? I can't see that there's a bus route to do this, so I'd need a cab.

Are the cabs outside the station the expensive ones. Can anyone recommend a local reliable cab company I could call for this journey, as I really don't know where to start looking.

TIA

Its not too far away, but its not walking distance!!

the cabs outside the train station are like the london black cabs, so not too bad in price. and IIRC they have to be bristol blue in colour.

I dont know of anyother companies as i always used these!

sorry, they arent shaped like london black cabs, but they have to be bristol blue in colour

Yes you need to get a cab from TM. It would be a real pain to try to get Ashton Court by bus.

The 505 bus goes to the UWE campus at Bower Ashton, which is just by the Ashton Court entrance nearest the mansion house - I presume it is the house bit you are going to?

But the 505 doesn't go from Temple Meads, you'd have to get another bus to Clifton or somewhere first. Taxi would be much easier. I would estimate £10 or less to get to the main entrance of Ashton Court.

I don't think the cab companies you call are that much cheaper than the ones on the rank by the station, and I'm also not sure that they are allowed to pick up from there anyway.

Fantastic - thanks everyone

I'll just get a cab outside station direct then. I'm going to a cross country event with my son. There'll be hundreds of people going from across the country, so I imagine the cab driver will know exactly which part.

Your replies have helped tremendously. I've spent ages trawling internet trying to find a bus route. Thanks so much

are you going to ashton court or ashton park (as in the school)? its essentially the same place but the estate is so big you will need to be asked to be dropped off in the right place. or the cab may drop you off at the mansion and the school is quite a walk from there.

There are three entrances to the Ashton Court estate, so I just checked on the race info booklet for you - there is a travel map on page 11, and you need to go to the least well-known entrance to Ashton Court, by the Dovecote Inn on a one-way stretch of road - I'd recommend taking the booklet with map with you to show the taxi driver.

Good luck with the race!
