We are thinking of going to Croatia next summer, possibly hotel or villa/unit.

Can anyone tell me anything that'd be useful to know? Any recommendations? Locations?

I know nothing!

TIA

Yes go. It has beautful coastline dotted with islands. We stayed on Lopud and then had a couple of day trips to Dubrovnik by boat. We like the look of this hotel here If you google Lopud villa/hotel loads of lovely things come up. The boat comes in to a pretty harbour where most houses are. There are no cars on the island. You can walk across the island (or take golf buggy) to a stunning beach on the other side. The water is very shallow so lovely for little children and cafes dotted around.

Lots of people recommend the island of Hvar. I've not been.

We also had a week in Montenegro.Owners direct lists some really good value brand new apartments in the ancient town of Kotor. The views there are stunning.

We stayed on Korcula island, incredibly beautiful, day trips to Dubrovnik and Dalmatian Coast. Woudl strongly recommend there as a base. Lovely seafood, rocky clear blue sea (and not particularly welcoming locals to be honest.) Have heard Hvar is amazing. Still quite cheap too.

Many years ago before the breakup of Yugoslavia.
Beautiful , fabulous scenery and coastline.
Locals miserable unwelcoming and all round grim.

Very beautiful mountainous coastline, and Dubrovnik is very photogenic, though small. The sea is crystal clear, and the beaches pebbly. We found the food pretty ropey, much better to stick to the Italian inspired menus, and ice-cream Grin. Venice is apparently do-able as a day trip via hydrofoil.
