I've been looking at the national rail enquiries website as I want to travel with my dd aged 3. She could travel free, but I want to reserve her a seat so she doesn't end up on my lap for 3 hrs, so I have to buy her a child ticket. OK, that's fair enough. Can I buy and use a family railcard? The site says it's for adults traveling with children 5-15. As I'm buying a child ticket does that count? Or will they say it's not valid as she isn't 5? I tried the "ask Lisa" option on the website but didn't get an answer and I've tried google.

Cheers

I think you can. I do. The whole point isyou choose to buy them a proper seat, isn't it. But they could travel free under 5.
