Good brochures / companies for finding self-catering accom in France?

Does anyone have any recommendations for companies / websites offering self-catering accommodation (NOT resorts / holiday villages / campsites / caravan parks - looking for one-off holiday cottages / gites) in France?

Doing advance reserach for 2012. Usually go to Pembrokeshire so this is an exotic departure...

Not used for France but ownersdirect and holidaylettings are both usually very good and should be worth a look.

Ive booked using cottagesforyou for France for the last 3 years and they have all been great.

Try cheznous. You book direct with the owner so I find it's a bit cheaper.

www.ownersdirect.co.uk or www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/

TBH you are not that advanced - I find the best places book well before christmas, especially if you want more than 3 bedrooms and a pool.

I have used Holiday rentals and cottages for you in the past....have a nice place in the Dordogne lined up for 2012 as my Italian first choice wants a HUGE deposit that I don't have.....

Many years ago we used a company called VFB and they were absolutely brilliant. They used to win awards but haven't used them for more than 10 years.

We have just been looking and found cottages4you and owners Direct very good - but lots of the ones best suited to our size & price bracket were booked for the weeks we wanted :(
