Where is the best place to stay? We want to stay somewhere beautiful and natural but with a few shops, pub & restuarant nearby. Ideally near to a big town / city for a day trip. I am totally clueless about the region but its meant to be wonderful.

We will be travelliing with two DC's, DC1 2.6 years & DC2, 1 year. We want to stay in self catering accomodation - can anyone recommned any good websites?

TIA

Whereabouts are you thinking and what sorts of things would you like to do?
The Cotswolds is quite a large area, running from Bath all the way up almost as far as Evesham.

Therefore, depending on whereabouts you want to go, you could do quite different things.

I don't know the northern area very well, but there is another Mnetter who does live that end...

But for the South end, places like Castle Coombe is lovely, with then trips to Bath, Bradford Upon Avon etc.

Or you could go more Cheltenham way? I don't know much about that part either.

To the East there's Burford which is then close to Oxford (now that I do know something about)

And then to the North you're not that far from Stratford Upon Avon.

From Bath to Stratford you're looking at a good two hour drive.

However, common touristy areas tend to be:

Burford
Moreton in the Marsh
Stow on the Wold
Broadway and so on.
