We cant go away next Summer but I would like to book somewhere in the October half term.

Where is going to be hot that wont take more than about 4 hours to get to? There needs to be plenty to do for little ones as DS doesnt like the beach.

Canaries? Egypt? Both lovely in October

Voidka · 16/10/2011 15:57

See I looked at Tenerife and quite liked the look of the holiday village but didnt know how warm it would be.

We are planning on Egypt for Easter 2013.

The Canaries are hot all year round, I think. We have friends who go every year for Christmas and always come back with a tan.

I would say Canaries, Morocco (Agadir is the beach resort there), Egypt, Tunisia. Gambia and Senegal are nice but the flight time is about 5.5 hours and so is Ghana but the flight time there is 6.5 hours.

we are going to Turkey this October, it is lovely there and 3½ hours from Gatwick to Bodrum.

Other places:

Libya - 3 hours
Dubai - 7 hours
Sierra Leone - 6 hours
Guinea-Bissau - 6 hours

nappyaddict · 17/10/2011 12:36

Actually probably not Libya. Libya and Kenya have both got travel restrictions in place at the moment.

fivegomadindorset · 17/10/2011 12:37

I mmight avoid Libya at the moment Grin

Cyprus ?

And if you want to swim in the sea Sierra Leone is a no no.

"Strong currents are common at beaches in Sierra Leone and there is no lifeguard or emergency service. In February 2011 two British nationals drowned in separate incidences at beaches along the Freetown peninsula. Swimmers should take great care."

We just got back from a week there for our anniversary and it was about 30 degrees.

It's more than 4 hours but guaranteed sunshine.

midnightexpress · 17/10/2011 12:49

Not Glasgow.

nappyaddict · 17/10/2011 13:01

Looks beautiful mumblechum. How long is the flight and what's the time difference between there and here? Was a week long enough?

Shanghaidiva · 17/10/2011 13:06

Greece

mumblechum1 · 17/10/2011 13:29

The flight was about 10 hours but we broke it in Qatar. A week was long enough, and the time difference was 4 hours ahead of British Summer Time.

There were quite a lot of children there which I was surprised about, and they all seemed to have a ball. We had a private infinity pool and private beach which was lovely (the Beach Villa option).

Tunisia Tunisia Tunisia! Best value for money ever. Short journey, beautiful sea. Intersting excursions. Very tourist friendly and child friendly.

This thread was started in 2011, so now, I suppose we can go anywhere in October since the earth is on fire and it's all our fault.
