Is it silly of us to travel to Yosemite with an 18 month old as it's not as though we'll be able to hike lots etc

Any recommendations for accomodation there?

I don't think so. There's plenty of different types of accommodation in Yosemite from camping to hotels. Make sure you book very very early though as things get booked up well in advance.

When we went in June time there was no accommodation and so I booked us a hotel in a town called Oakhurst (I think), just outside of the entrance to the park. Little did we realise that it's a massive, long drive into the valley of about 1hr. So, don't do what I did!

There are also plenty of walks on the valley floor you'll be able to do rather than hiking up trails.

You could hike. Just need a good quality carrier. We walked up to summit of Ben Nevis when DC1 was 20 months & I was 7m pregnant.
