What dress do i wear for a smart casual eve?

P & O cruise says 'stylish resort or leisurewear is ideal, for example casual separates or dresses for ladies'. What on earth can I wear??? I have evening dress/cocktail dress but nothing less casual. I'm not very tall and shorter dresses suit me best and I don't like bright colours - anyone got any ideas?

Would trousers and dressy top be ok? Have a great time.

I went on a P&O cruise this summer. On the informal nights I wore linen trousers or skirts with nice dressy tops. Have to say that even on informal nights there were people dressed up in cocktail dresses. smart dark jeans are also allowed.
