Advice on area of Rome to stay in.

I am looking to book a hotel in Rome for a romantic break! We are going in late Jan. Which area would you recommend to stay in? Or even a particular hotel thats great. Suggestions gratefully received.

We stayed in the Albergo Cesari a couple of years ago. It was great, I highly recommend it. I would go back in a heartbeat. It is in the very best location in Rome IMO, right in the heart of the Centro Storico, just minutes from the Pantheon and lots of other must-see sights. You will find any hotel in that area to be very convenient for sight-seeing.
