Mark Warner have suggested Egyptian Dollars/American Dollars or Euros - so no help there then

Egyptian pounds. You can only get them in Egypt though. Dollars work in some places too.

So do I take travellors chqs or a card or cash?

I hate holidays

I think i'd like a butler to book them and deal with the crap

I took traveller's cheques and British pounds and had no problem changing them at Thomas Cook branches over there. But this was about 15yrs ago so may be majorly out of date. I think US dollars are pretty much welcome everywhere.

Thanks Saadia

I just hate this stuff

I will find out from dh what we took. Do take egyptian dollars and ask for small demoninations too for tips. You do lots of tipping out there, bit on the pillow at the end of the week for housekeeping, excursions for the guide and the driver etc. At the airport egyptian men will come towards you to take your bag, offer you a trolley, avoid, as they only want your money. They will even stand next to checkin to put your bag on the conveyor belt to take your money!! And for when you go in the loos.

Top tip go to the loo on the plane! It's not far the transfer to the resort and Mark Warner have water on the bus for you.

Everything else at the hotel we put onto our room and paid by credit card at the end of the holiday.

katymacracker · 15/12/2005 17:15

Thanks Bluesky - look forward to finding out as we have to book

katy we were in Egypt in August and I'm certain we took Egyptian pounds with us from the UK. DH normally sorts the currency (I just plan and book the holiday !) but I don't think he had any problem picking up Egyptian pounds before we left.

bluesky · 15/12/2005 19:20

Right, dh says we just took egyptian pounds (paid for our snorkelling trip with them too) and then used our credit card at the end to settle our bill with the hotel.

The key is to get low demonination notes.

katymacracker · 15/12/2005 19:29

Bluesky are soft drinks free or not?

I know alcohol isn't free (don't care as we don't drink) - but we thought soft drinks were

you have to pay for all drinks at the bar.

at breakfast/lunch/dinner there are bottles of water at the tables, and all the juices at the buffet table are free. But if you were to order a lemonade or coke from the waiter that would go on your bill.

katymacracker · 15/12/2005 22:01

bummer that'll cost us loads

I drink all day
