DP and I are going to Budapest for a 3 day break at the end of March.

Have looked about and are considering staying at the Best Western Orion, can anybody tell me if this is fairly central.

Also looking for food and drink recommendations please.

Had a look at the guidebooks today but couldn't decide which one to buy, any recommendations on this as well

Thank you in advance
Kalex

Don't know about the Best Western Orion however the Intercontinental is beside the river with great views (for riverside rooms). Have a look at www.tripadvisor.com for realistic hotel reviews, also www.virtualtourist.com. It's a great city but could be a little chilly in Mar so take a hat .

We stayed at Intercontinental in December and it was brilliant. You can usually get really good deals. I think we booked through Air Miles. Ask for a room over looking the Danube. We looked right onto the Chain Bridge. There is so much to see. Make sure you go to the food market, the thermal baths. We went to a huge flea market. Don't go to the touristy restaurants they are NOT good. Ask the concierge at your hotel - they always suggest good places. Prepare to eat loads of goose and foie grois ... and dumplings! And they have the most wonderful cakes. Want to go back!

I will have a rifle through my handbags as I tend to hang on to old restaurant receipts. There was one really good one we went to. One dire! the other night was in the hotel which was excellent.
