Lake District hotel

Looking for recommendations for a lovely Lake District hotel, please! It's for DP's 40th, but we're taking the DC, so somewhere kind of celebratory but child-friendly would fit the bill well ... Preferably nowhere old-fashioned/chintzy. Thanks!

I've just been for a weekend in a lovely hotel called the Swan in Newby Bridge. I noticed how child friendly it was and there are plently of activities for the family nearby. Not the cheapest option but the food and location were excellent as was the spa!
