looking to maybe go here next May/June but its a new place for us so would like some pointers on which island / resort people rate for young families (4 year old and 1 year old)?

Nothing too flash as only have 3k in the pot but that should get us something ok from the quick look i've had!

Thanks for any help!

We are going [http://www.thomson.co.uk/destinations/caribbean/cuba/cuba-holguin/guardalavaca/hotels/playa-pesquero.html here] as they have given us guaranteed inter-connecting rooms which I've found tricky to find. Our children are 6 and 4 and it is costing us £4k for 2 weeks. Yours should be cheaper because of your baby. We go in a month's time so I can let you know how it is!

Ah, Cuba is great and they love kids! You'll have an amazing time! Go now before the whole system goes belly up. The people are amazing, so is the music....and the cocktails are dead cheap!!! Grin

I was going to suggest Cuba too. I'm going there for Christmas. I'd suggest Varadero because then you are close enough to Havana to go there on a day trip.

We're looking at the Carribean too, didn't think of Cuba for some reason but that looks lovely - let us know won't you!

Another vote for Cuba. We did it last year and stayed in Guadalavaca but at the Lune et Mares (or something like that). I think it was £2600 for three of us all inclusive. Fantastic people who couldn't do enough for you. Very very hot though. And a 10 hour flight.

For anyone still looking at this thread, we have just come back from th Playa Pesquero in Cuba and it was absolutely fantastic. We had huge spacious interconnecting rooms, beautiful beach, shallow gently shelving swimming pool, with swim-up bar, kids club was available but mine only went for a couple of hours as they'd made friends in the pool, loads of options for restaurants, food decent - honestly I'd recommend it. Not European 5* but pretty much the best that cuba can offer. Fabulous warm friendly people too.
