March holiday needed desperately - with creche?

My baby was due to be born early March but as this is no longer happening I need to book a nice comforting, easy, spoil myself a bit, warm holiday (warm, not too hot) for first 2 weeks of March. I have a 3.5yr old and would like a bit of a break from him too - so somewhere not too long haul if possible with some form of kids club would be ideal.

Dont' want to do anything particularly except swim, read books and be bloody thankful for what I've got.

Any ideas anyone. Oh, also don't want to spend thousands of pounds (or rather, can't!)
Is Mark Warner or Sunsail really my only options? Don't like the idea of these 'all inclusive' deals. Want to be a bit independent.

Tough brief eh?

Hi, Firstly i am really sorry for your loss, and you are right you need to be away somewhere and spoil yourself by taking it easy.
Not too long haul would be the canaries i suppose, do the package holiday companys do kids clubs? Also what about the likes of the gambia, tunisia or morroco, i think they are all warm and not too long flight.
i dont like all inclusive either, couldnt stand the thought of staying in a complex like mark warner for the whole of the holiday, i know it suits some and its fantastic if thats your thing, but i like to sample different local restaraunts at night and to feel some of the atmosphere of resort.
sorry ive not been much help.

I'm sorry to learn of your sad loss too desperate housewife and a holiday at the beginning of March sounds a therapeutic way to spend time around that significant period. I can't think of anywhere specific to recommend but if you are looking for warmer weather, wth a shortish flight, then dizzy's suggestions are probably your best options. You might want to consider Epypt (Sharm el Sheikh or Hurgada or Taba), Eilat or Jordan (all approx 4.5 to 5 hours away I think) or slightly further afield Dubai (approx 7 hour flight). The Canaries are nearer though - Fuerteventura is lovely.

thanks. I was thinking feuteventura too (can't spell it though can I?!) it's quiet and warm and not too 'brits abroad' is it?

Feurteventura is probably still the least 'English' of the four main Canary Islands but you only have to pick up a Thomsons/First Choice/Thomas Cook/Airtours/Cosmos etc brochure to determine that it's still a very popular destination from the UK. I think the newer resort of Jandia will be more frequented by Germans if you want to keep away from the Brits (understand where you are coming from). However in early March you will not be clashing with UK school holiday dates so you will hopefully find the island quieter.

thanks CC - will look into that. Appreicate your advice.
