am travelling within the UK, have booked online and printed my boarding passes.
Does this now mean ive checked in online?
If not how do i do it?
Also does it mean i dont have to be bothered getting there 2 hrs before and can just go straight though security

Yes you have checked in.
You can go straight to security in you only have hand luggage. If not, you still have to queue to drop your luggage.
You still need to allow enough time to go through security, in some airports, the queue can be long (Gatwick is awful)
Isn't there some advice on their website?

There is, but its not clear whether ive checked in apart from the fact that ive got my boarding pass.
Hand luggage only, and little airport.
Where do they check my passport then?

At custom after security if it's an international flight. If it's domestic, then I don't know, at security they check that your ID matches your boarding pass.
