Resorts in Majorca - Cala D'or Vs Pollensa?

I'm starting to think about holidays for next summer, next summer my 3 DS's will be 6 years, 5 years and 21 months, so we need a child friendly holiday.

We want to do a villa holiday so we can have a private pool and be in self catered accomodation for flexibility. We want to go to Majorca, and I have been looking at the resort of Cala D'or - most of the reviews seem quite good but I really want to avoid anywhere that has cheesy themed bars and karaoke etc, would prefer a more upmarket resort that still has daytime activities for children. SO having done a bit more research, I am thinking that Pollensa might be better?

If anyone is familiar with either of these resorts (or any others in Majorca) and advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Pollensa more upmarket than cala d or. Nice town square and lovely at atmosphere. Puerto pollensa 10 mins away and nice beach there-more touristy but still a fair share of nice restaurants and cafes. The pine walk is nice too.

Cala D'Or is nice enough, the most upmarket part IME is the area around the marina.

Can completly recommend Pollensa/porta pollensa, there is very little, if any cheesyness. My children are about the same age as yours and we have done a villa holiday there for the past 4 years, and there is a reason we keep going back..nice.would highly rcommend it.

Cala D'or is great for small children. Try for a villa that's near Cala D'or beach,a lovely little cove. The marina is a stones-throw away.

We have stayed in Peurto Pollenca in April and October (school holidays) and have really liked the area. I am not sure what it would be like at peak season, but at these times it was lovely, not too busy, fab sea front to walk down, very flat so ideal for walking (or scotting - we took DD's scooter), the beach was lovely and there were some great places to stop to eat and drink.

Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa are both nice. We rented a villa in Pollensa (very near the golf course). We enjoyed it. Downside, as with most villa holidays is that everything is a drive away rather than walking distance.
I do think that that villas in Majorca are quite pricey. We've also rented in the Frigliana area a couple of times (near Nerja, on the mainland) and I think that the quality is much better there and price is cheaper. Just a suggestion:)
