Earls Court - Shopping/Restaurants near by

We are off to SantaLand tomorrow at Earls Court. We have a bit of a distance to drive, so need to leave in plenty of time. I havent been to Earls Court for ages, is there anything nearby to kill a bit of time in case we are early, shopping centres etc, good places to eat with young children.

carluccio's on fulham road (5-10 min walk down redcliffe gardens) is lovely

there's a good tapas place on earl's court rd (the old brompton rd end) called La Rueda Gallega - reasonably priced and my kids love it there

kensington high st is only up the road - lots of good shops to mooch around

I am not very knowledgeable about the area, but we went to Santa Land on Friday. The taxi driver dropped us in front of the Earl's Court tube station, and told us to walk through the station to get to Earl's Court Exhibition area. A kind tube attendant let us through the barriers without paying, so that we could walk through the station.

Long way of saying....there are lots of shops/restaurants on the street in front of the tube station (think it's Earl's Court Road) - and I'm sure you could find something suitable for eating there. Sorry to be so vague! Have fun!

I live in earl's court, and the exhibition centre is on warwick road which has nothing in the way of shops or restaurants, but as earlybird says if you cut through to earl's court road (which runs parallel to warwick) there are quite a few restaurants (shops aren't much good though). Forgot to add Masala Zone is fantastic for great Indian food.
