You know someone in RL told me the answer was "nothing". I was hoping you'd all prove me wrong Grin

The steam museum of the Great western Railway?

CMOTdibbler · 06/09/2011 20:54

Steam is pretty good, or if they like romans, go to Cirenecster

teddies · 06/09/2011 20:57

there's a water funplace isn't there - Cascades, or somethign like that?

Barbeasty · 06/09/2011 22:25

The Oasis is the swimming pool with slides etc.

I'm guessing they won't enjoy shopping at the outlet village!

Steam is good. There's the water park towards Cirencester.

AtYourCervix · 06/09/2011 22:29

here Cotswold Water Park.quite possibly the most expensive morning out I have ever had but the DDs love the Head4Heights bit.

planetpotty · 06/09/2011 22:29

The Oasis swimming pool is amazing - a swimming pool with bells on (bit run down could do with a lick of paint) perfect for the ages you are looking for.

Also there is an ice rink just next to the Oasis I think its called the Link centre?

Excellent thank you. Barbeasty, where would you head for in Cirencester?

Steam Museum
Cotswold wildlife Park
Keynes Water Park
Lydiard Park (really good & Free!)
Ice Scating & Bowling in West Swindon
Lottmead Pick your own (free playground & Farm as well as yummy fruit/veg)
Friday night Greyhound racing/Motorbike racing

umm will try to think of more.

SlinkyB · 07/09/2011 12:26

There's also bowling and Laserquest on Shaw Ridge Leisure Park (opposite Link Centre which has ice-rink). Shaw Ridge cinema too.

mummyplonk · 07/09/2011 12:28

Lechlade is lovely (where David Walliams set off from) Nice riverside pubs and you can go on a boat ride.
Bath is quite close, Open top bus rides are good for boys.
The are 2 big multiplex cinemas
Bourton-on-the-water is a lovely day out in the Cotswolds, the is Birdland, Model village old sweet shops etc.

Barbeasty · 07/09/2011 21:02

Henley's sweet shop on Cricklade Street (one of the main shopping streets) is amazing. A traditional sweetshop with floor to ceiling shelves of jars of sweets.

There are some nice cafes too, an outdoor swimming pool, and that's about as far as my knowledge goes.

There's a Roman site there too, or Chedworth Roman villa (National Trust) is good. That's probably about 15 minutes away (other side from Swindon though)

PivotPivotPIVOT · 07/09/2011 21:04

I would say go to Oasis - cheap and cheerful.

And then get the hell out of Swindon.

tjacksonpfc · 07/09/2011 21:28

how close to swindon do you need to be for how long and do you have car access?

create · 08/09/2011 14:52

We're going to a thing in the evening, but will have a car, so don't need to be that close during the day

Are they into machines and stuff? The science museum at wroughton is good. It's where the science museum store all their big stuff that doesn't fit in London

create · 08/09/2011 15:27

That sounds great iarebaboon, but the web site says it's closed for refurbishment..... Sad
