Hi there

I am travelling to Australia in Dec with my family for a 3 week holiday. During our stay we have hired a camper van and have the intention to drive from Sydney to Melbourne over 10 days (we might do a night on the first part of the Great Ocean Road).

What we need are tips for places to visit en route. Because of the time of year it seems that most camp sites require a 2 night minimal stay which is fine but where to stay. We know Philip Island is a must but can you recommend anywhere else that is a must see?

Before our trip we have 3 nights in Sydney so top tips of things to do/see for a family with 3 small children in the city would be fantastic as would the same for 3 nights in Melbourne. Both times we are staying fairly central.

Thank you so much! Smile

taronga zoo, is fabulous and we loved the ferry rides, you get lots of offers on groupon, scoopon, cudos, spreets with meals, visitor attractions so worth joining and getting some deals on jet boat in Sydney harbour. etc
in the city the Metro Monorail, is one of the most popular ways of getting about, with 8 stops along its 3.6km route around Darling Harbour, Chinatown and the city.
Australian museum too, personally don't rate Luna park but it is an iconic landmark so get a picture oustide.
Bondi of course and take a walk around the rocks at weekend, nice markets.
the aquarium too, search for on-line offers.
Blow Hole at Kiama, Jervis bay ( Jervis bay caravan park excellent, sister owns it but truly best in area), the super fast dolphin watch boat to see dolphins & whales, also in town lady denman museum.
The jail in Melbourne is fabulous and agree Phillip island is a must be take warm clothes as weather changeable.
Ride on Puffing Billy the historic steam train through the Dandenong Ranges, Arthur's Seat Maze, there are three formal mazes including one especially designed for children with tree fairies and a lock ness monster.
st, kilda markets.
tried to put free & paid stuff to keep all amused.
