Where to go next May/June time with small kids?

Not been abroad for about 4 years so deperate for a bit of sunshine next year.
Almost persuaded DH for next year but we have no ideas wheres good for families.
DD's will be 3 and 2 then. Its them on the plane thats putting DH off so with this in mind we dont want to travel too far either really.

Anyone recommend some child friendly countries?

Crete
Both awesome and children are at the centre of all family life there.
Beautiful big beaches with no one on them, won't be too hot then either.
