What's Sheppey like for beaches?

I am wondering about a day out from London - we would usually think about Camber or Whitstable, but I'm wondering what Sheppey is like?
Any nice spots with dunes? Or a nice seaside resort? A quick google suggests that leysdown beach looks OK. Is the water nice or too close to two big estuaries?

Message received and understood - thanks lubeybooby!

I second that ... it's not a good day out destination ... bleak doesn't begin to describe it

Deal is really nice, but perhaps too far? It has a pebbly beach like Whitstable. Good antique/junk shops!

I love Whitstable and would like to visit Deal - but tomorrow we fancy sand. We are in S London - probably Camber.

Thanks for the advice on Sheppey - I think i haad confised it with somewhere else. Mersea?
