I'm being unreasonable....AGAIN

We are going on Holiday on 24th Dec - to Egypt (Abu Soma) with Mark Warner.

We have had a number of problems...all reasonably (if not satisfactorily) sorted

We got a letter today

The flights have been changed so instead of arriving at 5.30 we will arrive at 7.30.....bit of a bugger with an 8yo.....but we could cope
AND dinner will be served that night at 11 sodding pm

What use is that to a family with children.....apparently it's free (we paid all inclusive) and a Gala Night....FGS doesn't everyone under 20 need to be in bed on Christmas Eve by that time of night....she might see Father Christmas!!!

I know I am being unreasonable - but it is a FAMILY holiday

Oh I do appreciate how annoying this is - I am a travel agent I see this every day - the flights hae been changed. But look at it another way I have spent the last month rearrangng holidays for people whose hotels have been wiped out by the hurricane in Mexico - some we have not been able to sort out others we haven't and so they are not now going on holiday - dinner late or no holiday? I know which I prefer.

mummymojo · 29/11/2005 23:58

oops typo - it is my birthday tomorrow & I am blowing my diet with a coulple of wines
some we have sorted out some we haven't
I'm not that bad!!!

katymac · 30/11/2005 00:20

Hmmm - that doesn't make me feelmuch better Mummymojo....I know it should - it just doesn't

Let her sleep on the plane, take her to the gala dinner with you, you'll all have lots of fun and you'll get a lie-in in the morning!!

It might be worth bearing in mind that the whole holiday season is celebrated differently in some parts of the world EG Here in Greece Santa comes on New Years Eve not Christmas Eve.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 30/11/2005 08:56

Taking due consideration of the fact that there are people starving in the world, and some people who will struggle to make a Christmas for their children and worst of all there will be people on their own on Christmas Day, I really feel that this is not worth moaning about.

GREATauntymandy · 30/11/2005 08:57

youre on holiday!!!!!
Dont think she will see FC she will be asleep as soon as her head touches the pillow. Or maybe FC could sneak in whilst at the Gala do so its all there when you get back to your room.
I think its a monor problem!

piffle · 30/11/2005 09:21

my first instinct would be to say this was bound to happen travelling on xmas eve.
Just roll with it and relax

LIZS · 30/11/2005 10:50

I'm possibly being thick here but what time GMT does that equate to ? Aren't they about 3/4 hours ahead so it will seem like 7pm not 11pm to her ?

katymac · 30/11/2005 23:29

Probably is a minor problem - however was a misprint....dinner will be served up until 11 pm - so we can eat when we get there....and collapse

Sorry to be such a wuss

Oh c'mon using that rationale bugger all is worth moaning about. Let katymac have a grumble! - I think it's warranted.

katymac · 30/11/2005 23:36

Thanks HMC......I was carefully ignoring that - otherwise I would have felt so guilty for whinging I would have had to cancel my holiday

mental note to myself not to complain about anything on mumsnet unless my leg unaccountability falls off or the house falls down around me
