baby backpack hand luggage?

Hello, off on holiday later this week, and was thinking about not taking buggy as destination not buggy friendly, so was just going to take the baby backpack....does anyone know if I can take that on as hand luggage, or will they make us put it in the hold at the gate - it's a Bushbaby Elite, so not small?

We have taken baby backpack on plane several times... Just go with baby in backpack ad no-one will object. They won't take it away like they would a buggy. (They also won't weigh it!). In fact we took both buggy and rucksack without problem.
