£500 to spend on a holiday - what can we do, any suggestions?

My, hub and ds 6.5yrs...obviously cant go abroad but want a week or Mon - Friday somewhere - not Devon, Cornwall though.

Beach, activities for Ds and nice village pubs etc...

Where would you go?

I was going to suggest Devon/Cornwall . Norfolk? Holkham is supposed to be very nice?

I have to admit I've not been, but LOTS of friends have and they tell me about the loveliness of the beach and the nature reserve, and apparently there are nice pubs. Not much help, am I?

Wells is also worth a look, or at least a visit. There are a few nice touristy railways and there's the Norfolk broads, where you could hire a small boat for an hour/half day/day.
