If I tell you what kind of places we like, can you recommend please???

Me, DP, 2 boys (will be 11 and 9)
Friend and her DP and 9 month old baby

We like the Med, we like cobbled streets, quaint resorts, not bustling etc.

Think we would prefer a villa.

tapas type bars as opposed to karaoke bars.

Think 'rustic' but not necessarily 'rural'

not very helpful am I?

The Algarve?

We went some years ago and rented a villa with private pool, with flight and car hire through Travillas who were very good.

There are some lovely little towns around the Algarve, especially if you avoid Albufeira. A waterpark and Zoomarine for the older boys.

Lerici, Loano and Portovenere in Italy
Villefranche sur Mer, Le Lavandou, Cavaliere and Antibes in France

Places like Gassin, St Tropez, Grimaud are very lovely but a villa will cost you.

Alvor in the Algarve.
It's a fishing village with cobbled streets and lovely restaurants. Admittedly not the med but the most beautiful beach.

Sitges near Barcelona is a beautiful bustling resort. Has lots of cobbled streets, boutique shops, lots of nice restaurants along the promenade, gorgeous little art galleries tucked around every corner and good transport links

Praia da Luz on the Algarve is very nice. Also Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. We're going back there again this year.
