Things to do in/near Folkestone

We're getting a mid-afternoon Eurotunnel crossing and are travelling down the night before (long trip from North West) so will have 3 or 4 hours to kill. Can anyone suggest anything to see/do which would be interesting for a 2 and 4 yr old? Weater looks promising so anything outdoors would be good to get rid of some energy before a long journey!!

Thanks

Walk across the white cliffs at Dover (15 mins away), or Dover castle could be done in a couple of hours and is quite entertaining for kids. Folkestone has changed a lot since I was there but I believe the seafront has been done up and there is a nice childrens playground, so a wander along there followed by some cockles? There is a nice picnic place called Samphire Hoe between Folkestone and Dover on the cliff/sea which you can drive to.

Have a look around Folkestone. Park at the bottom of the Victorian Water Lift which is along from the harbour and walk through the beautiful coastal park to the great free adventure playground, complete with pirate ship. Entrance is just after the Victorian Water Lift (worth a go at just £1 for adults). At the playground you will also find toilets and a cafe overlooking the sea: Lower Leas Coastal Park, Lower Sandgate Road, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 2JP

Or have a look around the art exhibits in the outdoor Triennial - just google folkestone triennial for information. The harbour is fun for kids too with a walk through fountain and a great new gourmet fish and chip cafe called the Smokehouse.
